Workforce development is more than a buzzword. It is the strategic link between job seekers and employers, helping individuals gain the tools they need to succeed while ensuring businesses can access the talent they need to grow. It is a collaborative effort between economic development organizations, government agencies, schools, nonprofits, and businesses, all working together to build a stronger, more resilient economy.
Before September ends, we are celebrating Workforce Development Month 2025 by highlighting our Hire Cove program developed by Workforce Development Specialist, Brittany Sanders, sharing success stories, and recognizing the impact workforce development has on Copperas Cove and the surrounding region.
Why Workforce Development Matters
When we invest in workforce development, we are investing in people, businesses, and the community at large. The results are powerful:
Empowers individuals with career pathways and advancement opportunities
Strengthens businesses by enhancing competitiveness, retention, and expansion
Supports underserved communities and reduces unemployment
2nd Annual Regional Hiring Event – A Record Year
One of the most visible examples of workforce development in action is our annual Hire Cove Regional Hiring Event. This year’s event showed incredible growth compared to 2024:
Employers: 52
Job Seekers: 717 (up from 353 in 2024)
Veterans: 189 (up from 133 in 2024)
That is 364 more job seekers and 56 more veterans connecting with employers in a single year. The numbers tell the story, but the personal connections made at this event are what truly matter.
“We truly appreciate the opportunity to participate in your recent event. We hope our paths will cross again in the future.” – Divonte Davis, Armored Trucking Academy

Workshops and Training Programs
This year also marked the launch of new workshops and training sessions designed to give job seekers and business owners the tools they need to thrive. One highlight was the Glow Up and Get Hired Resume Workshop, where participants received one-on-one resume support and job readiness tips.
Community feedback spoke volumes:
“It was truly an incredible event, and I deeply appreciate everything you did to coordinate such a meaningful and helpful session for our community.” – Domonick Stewart, Job Seeker
“Thank you again for having us! We really enjoyed the opportunity to serve the community! You did an amazing job putting the event together!” – Anna Musulin, HR Manager
Supporting Small Businesses
Workforce development does not just serve job seekers, it also empowers small businesses. Our first Entrepreneurial Academy Series, led by Small Business Support Director Anne Seneca, celebrated a 100% retention rate among participants. Local business owners walked away with stronger strategies, practical tools, and confidence to grow.
This program proves that when we support entrepreneurs, we support the future of our workforce.
Looking Ahead
From connecting hundreds of job seekers with employers, to providing resume workshops, to supporting entrepreneurs, Workforce Development Month 2025 highlighted the many ways we are building a stronger community together.
As we look toward the future, our commitment remains clear: empower individuals, strengthen businesses, and grow opportunity in Copperas Cove, Texas.
