Copperas Cove, TX - The Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) has awarded its first Business Improvement Grant to Main St Mercantile, located at 210 S Main Street, marking a milestone in the launch of the new program to encourage investment and revitalization in Copperas Cove’s business community.
Main St Mercantile, owned by Andy Remedies and Betina Cash, was approved for a reimbursement grant award of $1603.18, representing 50% of their documented project costs.
The Business Improvement Grant was launched by CCEDC to support property and business owners who invest in physical improvements to their commercial properties within the city limits of Copperas Cove. The program offers reimbursement grants of up to 50 percent of eligible costs, with a maximum award of $5,000 per project.
“This first award represents exactly what the program was designed to do, help local business owners/property owners reinvest in their properties and strengthen our community,” said Sean Stevens, Assistant Executive Director of the Copperas Cove EDC. “We are proud to partner with Andy and Betina and Main St Mercantile as they continue improving and contributing to the vibrancy of Copperas Cove’s downtown core.”
Owner Betina Cash said: "This grant helped out tremendously. Bringing an old school style mercantile to downtown was no-easy feat, and this grant afforded us some financial flexibility as we get off the ground. This grant helped offset the costs of the sign installation and electrical upgrades to really make our project stand out. We are incredibly grateful for the support the EDC provides and are eager to partner with them as we can. We look forward to contributing to the growth of downtown Copperas Cove."
Main St Mercantile specializes in locally made goods, gifts and unique finds. The downtown marketplace represents more than 100 local vendors.
